Autoclave Bowie Dick test pack Direct Manufacturer

Short Description:

BOWIE-DICK TEST PACK
For Monitoring Air Removal/Steam Penetration
Product Description
Mediwish Bowie-Dick Test Packs contain no lead or other toxic heavy metals. The indicators are manufactured to evaluate the efficacy of air removal and steam penetration in pre-vacuum sterilizers. A Bowie-Dick Test passing result indicates that the sterilizer has successfully removed air and can allow steam to penetrate a load placed in the chamber. The indicators are designed for use in pre-vacuum steam sterilizers operating at 134°C. The Bowie-Dick Test Packs are designed for simulating a 7 kg cotton pack according to ISO 11140-4 Type 2.

Bowie Dickie Test

Mediwish Bowie-Dick test package is designed to determine the presence of residual air in steam sterilizers with pre-vacuuming.
Bowie Dick test doesn’t really evaluate sterilization quality. However, this makes it possible to evaluate the performance of the steam sterilizer and, in particular, the operation of its vacuum system. More specifically, the bowie dickie test allows you to assess whether the autoclave removes the required amount of air before introducing hot steam, which ultimately affects the quality of sterilization. For this air removal test, a special sheet of paper is used with a chemical ink applied in the form of a curly pattern that reacts to moisture. After proper steam sterilization, the pattern completely changes color. If the drawing has only partially changed color, this indicates a malfunction of the autoclave. A Bowie test with an indicator printed on it is located in the middle of the package in the middle of a stack of paper sheets.

1) Place the test bag daily on the bottom shelf of the steam sterilizer, near with drainage hole closest to the door, in an empty chamber.
2) Treatment in a pre-vacuum cycle at a temperature of 134 C for 3.5 minutes of exposure.
3) After processing, carefully remove the test bag and let it cool down. And then remove the indicator test sheet from the center of the air removal test.

4) Make sure that the outer indicator label on the test package box has changed color from the original color (for example, blue) to the signal color (for example, black).

5) The b&d test of the indicator should show uniformly (i.e. dark brown black) color change, same at the edges and in the center.

Any uneven change in the final color may indicate a malfunction of the autoclave.

6) Fill in the information in the bowie test autoclave sheet and save as a permanent record the failure of the sterilizer, which should be reported immediately.

Instructions for use:
The Bowie Dick test package will demonstrate an uneven color change as defined in ISO 11140-4 for sub atmospheric pulsation. If insufficient steam penetration occurs during the exposure cycle, the Mediwish color changes from blue (code 20.110; 20.210) to dark brown/black (20.210; 20.211; 20.110; 20.111) under proper sterilization conditions. Sterilization modes. It is indicated in Table 1. The indicator sheet in the Mediwish Bowie-Dick test package will show a uniform color.

General description

Description and specification of the device
The BOWIE-DICK test package does not contain lead or other toxic heavy metals.Bowidick test indicators are manufactured to evaluate the effectiveness of air removal and steam penetration in pre-vacuum sterilizers.The result of passing the device indicates that the sterilizer has successfully removed the air and can allow steam to penetrate to the cargo placed in the chamber.
The indicators are designed for use in steam sterilizers with a pre-vacuum operating at a temperature of 134°C.
The device is designed to simulate cotton packaging weighing 7 kg in accordance with ISO 11140-4 Type 2.
The BOWIE-DICK test package will NOT come into contact with the user’s undamaged skin.
The BOWIE-DICK test kit also meets the quality requirements established by the manufacturers’ quality criteria and EN ISO 11140-4:2007. (Please refer to: Appendix 2 Product images and technical specifications of BOWIE DICK test packages are shown below.

Intended Use

The Mediwish Bowie-Dick test package is designed to determine the presence of residual air in steam sterilizers with pre-vacuum operating in sterilization modes, the Bowie-Dick test package
will demonstrate a uniform color change from blue to dark brown/black, subject to the proper sterilization conditions defined in ISO 11140-4 for subatmospheric pulsating.
If insufficient vapor penetration occurs during the exposure cycle, the Mediwish Bowie-Dick test package will demonstrate an uneven color change.

How to use the device:

1) Place the test bag daily on the bottom shelf, above the drain hole closest to the door, in an empty chamber.
2) Treatment in a pre-vacuum cycle at a temperature of 134 C for 3.5 minutes of exposure.
3) After processing, carefully remove the test bag and let it cool down.
4) Make sure that the indicator label on the test package box has changed color from blue to dark brown/black, and then remove the indicator test sheet from the center of the test package.
5) The test sheet of the indicator should show a uniform change in dark brown black color. Any uneven color change may indicate a malfunction of the sterilizer, which should be reported immediately.
6) Fill in the information in the test sheet and save it as a permanent record.
